Registration of electronic preliminary information (EPI) on the territory of the Russian Federation

Electronic pre-information of customs authorities (EPI) has been mandatory since June 2012, based on the decision of the Customs Union Commission No. 899 “On the introduction of mandatory pre-information on goods imported into the customs territory of the Customs Union by road transport”. A notification with detailed information on transportation and goods imported into the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is sent to the customs authorities in advance, at least 2 hours in advance. Customs assigns a transportation identification number to the application as confirmation.

The rule was introduced to facilitate the process of customs clearance and customs control and to increase the capacity of checkpoints at the State border of the Russian Federation.
